Our recap of 2023’s events
In February, we hosted in conversation with co-founder of Mauli Rituals Anita Kaushal on her inspiration from personal tragedy as well as her co-founder Bittu’s father, who is an Ayurvedic doctor, meaning Anita had grown up seeing her mother make and use natural skincare from her kitchen larder.
Also in February, several of our members attended the 15th annual Political & Public Life Awards, with Sir Keir Starmer MP and Penny Morduant MP both picking up awards. Next year’s edition takes place on 7 March, and
In May, the flagship Ideas for India event was in its second edition, with keynote speakers including former RBI Governor Raghuram Rajan and former Finance Minister of Telangana KT Rama Rao, as well as delegations from across India. Plans for the next edition are now finalised, and we’ll be telling you a little more about them in early January.
Then in May, several members were at the inaugural Cambridge India Conference, with Ram Madhav (former National General Secretary, BJP), Atishi Marlena (Minister of Education, Delhi) and Pawan Khera (Chair, Media and Publicity, All India Congress Committee).
The day after, we hosted a session in conversation with Pawan Khera in London.
In July, we hosted sarod evening with pop artist Ketna Patel and more than 80 guests in her studio in North West London. Check out the Zee TV coverage here.
Shortly after was in conversation with founder of the Jaipur Literature Festival Sanjoy Roy.
In August, in conversation with fashion designer Rina Dhaka.
In September, Bridge India supported the Art & Culture award at the Asian Achievers Awards, with most of our Advisory Board as well as nearly 20 members in total attending.
In the same month, several of our members attended the Indo-UK Business Excellence Awards in the House of Commons, with parliamentarians and celebrities from across the UK and India.
In October, we hosted an event on Gender Equality in India’s Political Representation just a few days after the historic Women’s Reservation Bill was passed, with politician from Telangana Kavitha Kalvakuntla.
October also saw the launch of our latest publication in the Special Series on Kashmir Family Migration Stories in the Indus Basin, Kashmir’s Customary Laws and a Mysterious Murder. We’re particularly proud of this series, written by Jammu writer Venus Upadhayaya, as it showcases the unique space Bridge India offers for thought leadership of this kind.
In November, we hosted a special Ramayana puppet show for Diwali at King’s College London.
And in between all of this, we facilitated business, professional and other connections between members and grew a community of change-makers.
