In a recent newsletter, we talked about the changing nature of India’s armed forces, with a focus less on boots-on-the-ground warfare and more investment in AI. This newsletter explores the topic further.
But before that, the latest article created for Bridge India, as well as some member news: congratulations to Devasiachan Benny for graduating as a Creative Economy Scholar courtesy of by British Council as well as completing his Masters in Tourism and Cultural Policy from Goldsmiths. His dad, Benny Sebastian, planted rubber saplings on his farm for the past 30 years. Devasiachan not only had the opportunity to travel abroad to the UK, but he’s now a graduate of a course where he can use his skills to promote India and sustainable living. He’s pictured below working on the family farm.
Dr Koenraad Elst is a Belgian Indologist who says we should let the “Aryan” debate become a debate once again, in his article for Bridge India. He says that in the last thirty years, there have been plenty of lectures, papers and now online videos promising to “debunk the Aryan Invasion Theory”. Their impact has been poor, essentially limited to Hindu students, not even Hindu politicians. But outsiders, particularly the champions of that same AIT, have barely noticed this wave of attempted refutations, and certainly haven’t felt moved by them to rethink their assumptions.
