Our first student society, Qawwali night (10 June), member news
Join several BI Members at the Orchestral Qawwali Project on 10 June.
Join Bridge India at The Orchestral Qawwali Project, presented by Ragatip, voiced by Abi Sampa, produced by Rushil Ranjan and lifted by the rhythms of Amrit Dhuffer’s tabla – perform a unique brand of qawwali music, juxtaposing Western orchestral harmonies with ancient melodies. It is taking place at 7:30pm on Sat 10 June at The Roundhouse in London.
British Tamil singer Sampa, who was born in London to parents with roots in the north of Sri Lanka, first discovered her deep connection to Sufi music after meeting Dhuffer.

Bridge India at King’s College London
Bridge India is proud to announce that we will be launching our first student society, at King’s College London, from the new academic year in September 2023.
Ved Shivkumar, President, said:
“I'm delighted to be part of the Bridge India KCL Society because it offers a unique platform to foster engagement and understanding of Indian public policy, and allows a forum to connect with other actors to unify and solve collective issues. Being a history and international relations student at King's, I recognise the significance of exploring global perspectives and the role India plays in shaping the international landscape. By setting up Bridge India at King's, we will create an avenue to drive meaningful conversations about Indian foreign policy, economics, and society through hosting change-makers from across policy, business and academia.”
Ishaan Pandey, Head of Events, said:
“I believe in the power of ideas in transforming the world. At Bridge India, we are creating a forum for the exchange of these ideas: ideas about India and its emergence in the world.
This is an opportunity for the students at KCL to engage with academics, policymakers, and businesses from the Indian community.
With our team, we hope to make this club about integrating the values of India with the world and creating meaningful dialogue between the two.”
Rita Kakati-Shah, speaker at the recent Ideas for India conference and Advisory Council Member of King’s Business School), said:
“It is important for Bridge India to engage students because they are not only global citizens and representative of who we as a society are today, but the change makers of tomorrow and the voices of the future, so form an integral role in bridging and shaping relations with India.”
